In 1998, organised the first ever workshop on Integrated Development Plans in Sakhisizwe local municipality; and has since 2000, been making critical and constructive inputs to the Sakhisizwe municipal Integrated Development Plans (IDPs)

Between 2000 and 2003, assisted communities to successfully challenge the Municipal Demarcation Board from imposing new municipal boundaries to Mthingwevu, Manzimahle, Upper Indwana, communities in Sakhisizwe local municipality

In 2001, the organisation assisted a group of 40 people from Luphaphasi to acquire a 2029 hectare farm through the government’s land reform programme – Land Redistribution for Agricultural Development (LRAD) – at Indwe. The farm – Delindlala Communal Property Association has become the most successful land reform project in the Chris Hani District Municipality to date

In 2004, assisted the Kiyane family to acquire a farm called Shuna farm which is now known as Funokuhle Agricultural Project. Without much government support, the project is still operational and the family has been able to send grand children to tertiary institutions

Between 2004 and 2006, the organisation assisted four more groups to acquire farms through the land reform programme

Through capacity building, a sizeable pool of local leaders that can speak truth to authority has been built. The local leaders have made interventions in various national platforms, such as the National Land Summit in 2005; Provincial Rural Development Summit in 2008; and in the Standing Committee on Rural Development in the national parliament in 2010

Local capacity on organic farming as an alternative to conventional farming has been built among community leaders. The leaders are now community trainers of organic farming

Between 2013 and 2015, CALUSA supported the residents of Cala Reserve to successfully challenge the imposition of unelected headman in a “Landmark” High Court case in Bisho.

Between 2013 and 2014, CALUSA was contracted by NDA for a Capacity Building Programme that included Project Management, Basic Bookkeeping and Financial Management, Conflict Management, Resource Mobilisation, and Governance for NPOs in the Emalahleni Local Municipakity and Joe Gqabi District Municipality

In 2015, the organisation also supported families of farm dwellers in Beestekraal and Palotti farms in the Sakhisizwe and Emalahleni local municipal areas respectively. The organisation successfully lobbied the government to intervene in attempts by farmers to evict the farm dwellers
