ADVERT FOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE
The Cala University Students Association(CALUSA) invites interested party/ies to submit their applications to provide administrative support to the organisation for a period of 6 months.
About the organisation:
CALUSA is a developmental Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Cala, Eastern Cape. It was founded in 1983 and comprised of correspondence students enrolled at the University of South Africa (UNISA). The organisation later expanded its constituency by targeting teachers who wanted to upgrade their qualifications and students who were expelled from their schools for resisting apartheid and bantustan education and tyranny.
With the advent of democracy in 1994, CALUSA turned its focus to rural development and governance, assisting communities acquire land through South Africa’s land reform programme and assisting them establish democratically elected and accountable structures. Most recently, CALUSA targeted young people and organised them as a Youth Commune.
As during the apartheid period, CALUSA foregrounds popular education by conducting seminars and workshops for its constituencies, encouraging them to be self-reliant.
In terms of its values, CALUSA works towards the attainment of an egalitarian society that emphasizes co-operation rather than competition and in which there is no poverty and inequalities.
About the position:
The organisation is looking for a dynamic young woman who will provide administrative support in its activities, to manage the affairs of the office and to report to the board on a weekly basis.
We would like the applicant(s) to demonstrate the following qualities/characteristics:
Must be based in the Sakhisizwe Municipal Area
Must be 18 years or older
Commitment to community development
Ability to work with young and elderly people for community engagement purposes.
Be in possession of a Matric Certificate(Grade 12)
Languages: Fluent in isiXhosa and English – written and spoken.
Equipment to be provided and remuneration:
The organisation shall provide the necessary equipment to perform the duties required.
Noting that CALUSA is not an employer, the candidate shall be offered an allowance of R1000 per month. The remuneration offered is to cover basic costs and is not a salary
